Bank of England staff vote for strike –

(Reuters) – Bank of England staff have voted to strike over pay in the first strike action for over 50 years, the Unite union said on Monday.

“Unite has informed the Bank of England that its members working in the maintenance, parlours and security departments will be taking four days of strike action on July 31, August 1, 2 and 3 2017,” Unite said in a statement.

“If the bank fails to resolve the pay dispute, the union will be consulting its members across other departments of the bank as part of the escalation plan.”

The dispute was caused by the imposition of a one percent increase in the pay pot for the year beginning March 2017, Unite said.
